Terme de chimie. Substance jaune, d'une saveur amère et styptique, qui a été isolée du xanthoxylum fraxineum, Willdenow, ou caraïbeum, Gaertner, ou bois des Caraïbes, xanthoxylées.
   Du grec, jaune, et picrite.
