Terme d'anatomie. Qui a rapport aux tempes. Artère temporale.
   Aponévrose temporale, large expansion fibreuse fixée à toute la ligne courbe temporale et à l'arcade zygomatique.
   Les os temporaux, ou, substantivement, les temporaux, l'un droit et l'autre gauche, sont situés aux parties latérales et inférieures de la tête.
   Muscle temporal, ou, substantivement, le temporal, muscle dont les fibres naissent de la fosse et de l'aponévrose temporales ; il s'attache à l'apophyse coronoïde de la mâchoire inférieure.
   XVIe s.
   Le muscle nommé crotaphite, c'est à dire temporal, PARÉ IV, 9.
   Lat. temporalis, de tempus, tempe.
