Charge d'un bateau.
   Déclarons bateau maire dans les grandes rivières celui qui est chargé aux embouchures, et dans les moindres rivières qui ne pourront porter les bateaux chargés aux embouchures ; déclarons bateau maire celui qui est à la tête de l'équipe ou navée ; en sorte que tous les bateaux dans lesquels aura été versé le sel du bateau maire chargé à l'embouchure, ne soient réputés qu'un seul et même bateau, Ordonn. mai 1680.
   Terme de pêche. Se dit, particulièrement en Normandie, des bateaux chargés de poisson salé.
