1°   Terme de médecine. Action d'une substance astringente.
2°   Terme de chirurgie. Action de serrer. L'astriction d'un fil mis autour d'une artère.
   XVIe s.
•   Cest humeur est acide ou aigre, pour de son adstriction roborer le ventricule, PARÉ I, 20.
•   La matiere acre et bouillante pourroit, pour l'astriction des medicaments, estre repoussée au dedans, PARÉ V,12.
•   Par ceste astriction [du fil] on fait tomber une portion de ladite uvule, PARÉ VI, 7.
   Astrictio, d'adstringere (voy. astreindre).
