   Qui aide, auxiliaire.
   En termes de pharmacie, un médicament adjuvant, ou subst. m. un adjuvant, médicament qu'on fait entrer dans une formule pour seconder l'action de celui qu'on regarde comme plus énergique.
   XVIe s.
