univalve
(u-ni-val-v') adj.
   Terme de botanique. Il se dit d'un péricarpe qui ne s'ouvre que d'un seul côté.
   Terme de zoologie. Il se dit des mollusques dont la coquille n'est composée que d'une pièce.
   Substantivement. Une univalve.
   L'Académie fait univalve et bivalve, pris substantivement, du masculin, sous-entendu mollusque ; mais elle fait multivalve du féminin, sous-entendu coquille. Cette discordance ne peut subsister ; il vaut mieux mettre le féminin en tous les cas : une belle univalve.
