stéréoscope
(sté-ré-o-sko-p') s. m.
Appareil qui permet de donner la sensation complète du relief et de la perspective au moyen d'images planes. On emploie deux images d'un même objet prises de deux points de vue différents, éloignés l'un de l'autre de la distance des deux yeux ; ces deux images, qui sont le plus souvent des épreuves daguériennes ou photographiques, sont regardées par l'intermédiaire d'oculaires, de prismes, de réflecteurs qui en produisent la superposition, et qui donnent au spectateur l'impression de la vision binoculaire naturelle.
