(stagh-na-sion ; en vers, de quatre syllabes) s. f.
1°   État de ce qui est stagnant. La stagnation des eaux.
2°   État du sang et des humeurs qui ne coulent pas ou qui circulent trop lentement, par analogie avec les eaux qui croupissent dans les étangs.
3°   Fig. État de ce qui ne se développe pas. La misère est grande par suite de la stagnation des affaires.
