(pitch-pin) s. m.
Terme de commerce. Nom anglais du pinus rigida, arbre de plaine, très abondant à la Nouvelle-Angleterre et aux États-Unis ; rouge, très résineux et fort estimé pour les constructions navales.
•   Il s'importe régulièrement en France depuis quelque temps des quantités considérables d'un bois de la Floride appelé à rendre de grands services comme bois de charpente et de menuiserie..., le pitch-pin est résineux, sain, sans noeuds, ayant la résistance et toutes les propriétés du chêne et du teck, O. SACHOT Rev. Britan. avril 1875, p. 531.
