(fo-sfo-rè-ssan, ssan-t') adj.
Qui jouit de la phosphorescence. Un grand nombre de corps sont spontanément phosphorescents : le bois pourri, certains insectes (lampyre, scolopendre), beaucoup de crustacés et de mollusques marins ; quelques plantes (bissus phosphorescens, euphorbia phosphorea), le sucre quand on le casse dans l'obscurité, etc.
