Terme d'antiquité. Figure composée de cinq alphas, pentagone sur les côtés duquel sont des triangles isoscèles.
•   Au centre du sceau, on voit une grande étoile à cinq pointes, le pentalpha, connu chez les Juifs et les musulmans sous le nom de signe de Salomon.... le pentalpha signifie que le propriétaire du sceau est fils de Salomon, F. DELAUNAY Journ. offic. 23 juill. 1873, p. 4952, 3e col..
   C'est sans doute pentalpha ou pentalphe qu'on a voulu imprimer dans ce passage de Cazotte : Mon camarade, à l'aide d'un roseau.... trace un cercle autour de lui.... et en sort après y avoir dessiné quelques caractères : Entrez dans ce penthacle, mon brave, me dit-il, et n'en sortez qu'à bonne enseigne, le Diable amoureux, ch. 2 ou 13, Paris, 1845.
   Le grec se traduit par, cinq, et, alpha.
