lignite
(ligh-ni-t') s. m.
Charbon fossile de formation récente, et qui conserve souvent des traces évidentes d'organisation végétale.
   Lignite xyloïde ou bois fossile, celui où l'organisation ligneuse est encore apparente. Lignite compacte et parfait, celui où cette organisation a disparu.
   Lat. lignum, bois, et la finale minéralogique ite.
