jatropha
(ja-tro-fa) s. m.
Terme de botanique. Genre d'euphorbiacées. Jatropha multifide, dit aussi médicinier d'Espagne, et petit médicinier, dont le fruit est appelé noisette purgative ou noix médicinale et noix de médecine.
   Jatropha curcas, dit médicinier catholique, dont les graines, qui portent les noms de noix des Barbades et haricots du Pérou, sont parfois improprement appelées pignons d'Inde, LEGOARANT.
