   Terme de diplomatique. Formule par laquelle le copiste ou les témoins d'une charte ou d'un diplôme demandent à Dieu sa bénédiction sur l'acte.
2°   Particulièrement, chez les poëtes, prière adressée à une Muse, à un génie, à quelque divinité pour lui demander son secours. L'lliade commence par une invocation à la Muse.
