Terme de pêche. Hameçon ; ce terme est beaucoup employé par les pêcheurs maritimes sur les côtes de Normandie ; il l'est aussi dans d'autres provinces.
   XIIIe s.
•   Uns peschierres geta iluec son hain, et quand il cuida avoir pris un grand poisson...., DU CANGE hamatores..
   XVIe s.
•   Ce sont de beaux attraits despourveus d'hameçon, Où les graces ne sont et ne font compagnie ; C'est ainsi qu'un appas qui seulement convie, Et par faute de l'haim ne retient le poisson, AMAD. JAMYN Poés. p. 161, dans LACURNE.
   Lat. hamus, hameçon, qui se rapporte sans doute au terme grec traduit par recourbé.
