Qui corrobore, qui fortifie.
   En termes de médecine, moyens corroborants, les moyens qui, suffisamment prolongés, ont la vertu d'augmenter la force de la constitution.
   Substantivement. Les corroborants. Le grand air, le séjour à la campagne, une bonne nourriture sont des corroborants.
   CORROBORANT, TONIQUE, EXCITANT. Ce qui corrobore donne de la force à la constitution ; une bonne nourriture est corroborante. Ce qui est tonique, donne du ton, c'est-à-dire augmente l'activité d'un organe ou même de la constitution entière ; les amers sont toniques. Ce qui est excitant cause une excitation momentanée du système nerveux ; le café est excitant.
   XVIe s.
•   Faut appliquer remedes refroidissans et corroborans, pour repousser et empescher la fluxion des humeurs, PARÉ IX, 5.
