   C'est en 1856 que l'on trouva pour la première fois dans le commerce un rouge amarantin très beau tiré de l'acide urique ; cette coloration, appelée murexide, fit sensation, mais dura peu, parce qu'on ne tarda pas à tirer de l'aniline un rouge plus vif encore et plus facile à appliquer, J. LAVERRIÈRE Mém. d'agric. etc. 1870-71, p. 337.
