(mar-te-lé, lée) part. passé de marteler.
1°   Travaillé au marteau. Vaisselle martelée.
   Terme d'antiquaire. Médaille martelée, médaille antique, dont on a limé le revers qui était commun, pour en frapper un plus curieux et plus rare, avec un coin neuf et dans le goût de l'antiquité.
2°   En musique, trille martelé, trille dans lequel les deux sons se font entendre distinctement.
   S. m. Sur les instruments à archet le martelé consiste à détacher les notes en poussant toujours l'archet ou en le tirant toujours ; on dit plutôt staccato.
3°   Fig. En littérature, péniblement fait et travaillé. Vers martelés.
